Following the hit sensation before it, Dream High 2 follows a similar story line as before but focuses on new faces and talent. This time, Kirin Arts High School has been having financial difficulties and is soon to be bought by an elite company. In the nick of time a girl group, HershE, transfers to Kirin. Lian (Park Ji Yeon) is a talented actress, Nana (Kim Hyo Jung) is a talented singer, and  Ailee (Lee Ye Jin) is an airhead performer. In addition, Shin Hye Sung (Kang So Ra) has musical talents but strongly buts heads with rock star Jin Yoo Jin (Jung Jin Woon), but there is an underlying romance between the two ready to be released.

Dream High 2 has a similar story as in its predecessor. Featuring new talents, it’s another perfect drama for those who are K-Pop fans and want an easy bridge into the drama world. Similar to what I mentioned that I loved about Dream High, is that the drama features not only romance and a ‘coming of age’ story, it features talented stars who are able to show the range of their abilities.

Watch it on DramaFever, Viki, and KissAsian.

Dream High depicts a story of students at the prestigious music high school, Kirin Art High School. Go Hye Mi (Bae Su Ji) is a singer whose family was once rich but has been facing economic difficulties. Hye Mi auditions to Kirin Art High School, but is rejected once her best friend, Yoon Baek Hee (Ham Eun Jong) is accepted. Wanting to follow the girl he likes, Song Sam Dong (Kim Soo Hyun) has an interest in both Hye Mi and music but is dealing with a hearing impairment. Similarly, Jin Guk (Ok Taec Yeon), is Hye Mi’s childhood friend and a talented rapper in a small K-Pop band. In the end, though there can only be one K-Pop star, but who will it be?

Dream High has a star-studded cast of actual K-Pop stars. Similar to the movie Fame it has a similar feel of what the lives of young talent are forced to face and how challenging the entertainment world can be. Personally, I am a fan of musicals, so having a show featuring singers and actually singing songs interests me a bit. Overall this seems like an amazing drama for K-Pop fans, and an easy bridge for those fans to cross over from Pop to Drama’s.

Nightmare High

Welcome back, DramaSpot readers!

This week I am recommending the thrilling drama: Nightmare High.
Starring Uhm Ki Joon, Kim So Hyun, Lee Min Hyuk, Seo Shin Ae, and Baek Seung Do.
Written by Hyun Moon Sub and Jung Yoo Suk, this 12 episode series aired in 2016.
Watch it on KissAsian and Netflix.

'Nightmare High'

At Yosan Private High School after the homeroom teacher for class 2-3 has been hospitalized, there is a new teacher that comes to take over. Han Bong Gu (Uhm Ki Joon) is a mysterious substitute teacher for the time being and it seems to be that all the teachers know who he is. As strange events start to occur, class president Kang Ye Rim (Kim So Hyun) and her classmate Seo Sang Woo (Lee Min Hyuk) investigate this new mysterious teacher to prevent anything else from happening.

Nightmare High seems like a very strange and almost unknown drama. From the first episode, there is a creepy vibe that comes with watching and it, and it seems that there are many secrets about each character that will be revealed as you continue to watch the series. Since each episode is only 15-20 minutes long it doesn’t take long to get through this series and uncover the secrets that each character holds.

Tomorrow with You

Starring Shin Min Ah, Lee Je Hoon, Kim Ye Won, Jo Han Chul, and Oh Kwang Rok.

Yoo So Joon (Lee Je Hoon) is a CEO of a large company and approaches every situation as a profit or a loss. He is selfish and lives his life looking out for only himself. Not only is So Joon rich and handsome, but he also has the ability to time-travel when he travels on a subway. Song Ma Rin (Shin Min Ah) is a photographer who was once a child star. Struggling as an adult in her personal life and professionally, she keeps a positive and optimistic attitude. When So Joon sees his how depressed and dull his life is in the future, he decides to marry Ma Rin as a way to save his own future. Although he doesn’t love her, Ma Rin is in love with So Joon. Will it be possible for So Joon to actually find love in his heart for Ma Rin?

Tomorrow with You has such an interesting concept to it. I haven’t seen many dramas that deal with the ability of time travel, unlike many that dealt with the supernatural ability to see spirits and ghosts. This fresh idea was received well, as well as the casting choice of Shin Min Ah and Lee Je Hoon. Overall this drama is going to be a tear-jerker and will definitely feature some comedic scenes between Min Ah and Je Hoon.

Uncontrollably Fond

Welcome, DramaSpot readers!

This week I am recommending the romantic drama: Uncontrollably Fond.
Starring Kim Woo Bin, Bae Su Ji, Im Ju Hwan, Jin Kyung, Lee Seo Won, and Ryu Won.
Written by Lee Kyung Hee, this 20 episode series aired in 2016.
Watch it on DramaFever, Viki, and KissAsian.

'Uncontrollably Fond' Stills

No Eul (Bae Su Ji) and Shin Joon Young (Kim Woo Bin) were in a relationship as teenagers until they are suddenly separated. Years later No Eul is now a TV producer and Joon Young has become a top Hallyu star with an arrogant personality. When No Eul is assigned to produce a documentary on Joon Young the two have a second chance encounter as adults and cannot deny the spark between them.

Uncontrollably Fond was the talk of the KDrama world because of Kim Woo Bin and Suzy who are both big named stars in South Korea. The second chance romance between the two leads and the love-hate relationship they have are common tropes in drama that keep the viewers watching and wanting more!

Sensory Couple

Hello again, DramaSpot readers!

This week I am recommending the Romantic Drama: Sensory Couple.
Starring Park Yoo Chun, Shin Se Kyung, Nam Goong Min, Yoon Jin Suh, and Kim So Hyun.
Written by Lee Hee Myung, this 16 episode series aired in 2015.
Watch it on DramaFever, Viki, and KissAsian.

Choi Moo Gak (Park Yoo Chun) was a loving brother who cared for his younger sister until one night she was murdered by a killer known as the ‘Barcode’ killer. Oh Cho Rim (Shin Se Kyung) also became a part of the ‘Barcode’ Murder case after her parents were killed and she was the only witness. But while escaping the killer Cho Rim gets hit by a car and falls into a coma. Three years later Cho Rim awakens with no memory of what happened to her but finds that she can see smells with her eyes. Moo Gak has become a police officer who has dedicated his life to finding the man who murdered his sister and in the process, has lost all feelings that made him human. Together Moo Gak and Cho Rim work together to find out more about Cho Rim’s past and why she and Moo Gak are possible targets of the Barcode murderer.

Sensory Couple is one of the cutest crime dramas I have seen. There are equal parts of thriller, comedy, romance, and mystery while watching this suspenseful drama. Shin Se Kyung and Park Yoo Chun have a great chemistry together that leaves you wanting them to end up together and become closer as the show moves forward. I’d definitely recommend this drama to those who like romance but also for those who enjoy crime shows with many twists and turns.

Ghost

Welcome DramaSpot readers!

This week I am recommending the Mystery Drama: Ghost.
Starring So Ji Sub, Lee Yeon Hee, Uhm Ki Joon, Daniel Choi, Jung Byung Hee, and Kwak Do Won.
Written by Kim Eun Hee, this 20 episode series aired in 2012.
Watch it on DramaFever, Viki, and KissAsian.

'Ghost' Promotion Photo

Kim Woo Hyun (So Ji Sub) is the son of a well-known police officer. Wanting to make a name for himself, Woo Hyun also joins the police academy and quickly becomes top of his class and the envy of his peers. After he graduates, he is assigned to the Cyber Investigations and is enthralled by the psychological games of his faceless criminals. Together, Woo Hyun and other members of the Cyber Investigation squad, Yoo Kang Mi (Lee Yeon Hee) and Jo Hyung Min (Uhm Ki Joon), will work together to catch the criminals they can not see.

Ghost seems like the perfect drama for those who love crime series. Similar to Voice there seems to be one main ‘villain’ that is continuous through the whole series, and it is so enticing to watch. So Ji Sub is so serious and plays the part of a Policeman well. With its suspenseful plot and complex characters, I recommend Ghost to anyone that is a fan of crime shows and drama.
